3 Monthly – Construction, site work, mining and hire equipment.
6 Monthly – Factories, workshops, places of manufacture, maintenance or fabrication and commercial cleaning equipment.
Yearly – Work environments where equipment and supply cords are not enclosed, office like areas.
2 Yearly – For all residential type areas, hotels, motels, halls, age care and hostels.
2 – 5 Yearly – Equipment with supply cords enclosed and not subject to open abuse such as Servers.
Fire Safety:
6 Monthly – All fire extinguishers, fire hoses and blankets.
5 Yearly – Fire extinguishers are to be replaced from date of manufacture, unless damaged or low in pressure.
Emergency Exit Lighting:
6 Monthly – Simulate a loss of power and determine if all emergency exit lighting conforms to requirements.
For construction, site work, mining and hire equipment AS-3012 stipulates colour coded tags for 3 monthly electrical testing. The colour represents the periods detailed below:
RED – December to February
GREEN – March to May
BLUE – June to August
YELLOW – September to November
During the biannual inspection, the emergency exit lighting will be assessed for general functionality, operation and battery discharge.
